The Dormition of the Virgin Mary

All twelve apostles are pictured. St. John holds Mary up by the waist, a gesture not often found in Dormitions that picture her receiving the last rites of the medieval church. (St. Peter places a candle in her hands while an apostle on the left reads the prayers and another on the left raises her hand as if to make the sign of the cross.)
